Programs
The seniors of Delray/Southwest Detroit have very few outlets for social and cultural activities. The DUAC senior center continues to fill the gap in their lives and remain the nucleus of the senior community for social services.
For the past 38 years DUAC has provided quality services to the seniors of Delray/Southwest Detroit. DUAC serves 35-45 seniors daily for our food & friendship congregate meal program. During the 2005/06 winter season DUAC provided assistance to 72 seniors with their utility bills through our THAW program. For the 2004-05 fiscal year DUAC provided services to 615 seniors and as of May 2006, 401 seniors had been provided assistance ranging from food, utility assistance, transportation, adult day services and counseling. The services are provided by an executive director who oversees all aspects of the project, including program development and implementation. The deputy director assists the executive director in executing and monitoring the delivery of all services by providers.
